Decopatch Project Ideas - what you can do with decopatch
We have put this section together to describe what you can do with decopatch, in essence its very simliar to the paper mache we all used to do at school, but with beautiful papers that allow you to decorate and transform all sorts of items around the home.
It's an activity that doesn't take much time - so also great for the kids!
What is it?
Decopatch paper is easily applied to any kind of surface (flat or uneven) and is the only paper which produces a smooth texture and a real paint effect. Decopatch paper is deep-dyed and glazed, it will not break apart when glued, and the colours will never fade or run. Because it is a very thin , but strong and flexible paper, decopatch is especially easy to use.
What can decopatch be applied to?
Decopatch can be applied to most materials, for example metal, wood, plastic, glass, paper mache, wicker, ceramics and cardboard.
What do you need to get started?

Decopatch - A Step by Step Guide
The basic principal
Cut or tear up the paper and paste it onto the item to be decorated. (You need a glue that is transparent once dry and acts rather like varnish (see links above))
Step 1 - Cut or tear Decopatch paper into small pieces. Tearing is preferable as torn edges blend together better than edges cut with scissors.
Step 2 - Apply Paperpatch glossy glue to the area where the paper is to be placed.
Step 3 - Place one piece of Decopatch paper on the glued surface.
Step 4 - Apply a new coating of Paperpatch® glue on the paper. Smooth the surface, working from the centre to the edges. Remove any excess glue.
Step 5 - Cover the object entirely with paper and glue. Each piece should overlap the next. The overlap should be minimal - only enough to cover the edges of the previously glued piece.
Step 6 - We recommend Aquapro professional varnish on objects for every-day use; or where a lustrous finsh is desired. Two or three coats are recommended with an hour to dry between each application.

Hint: Decopatch paper is slightly see-through, especially in the lighter colours, so first of all apply either a layer of white paint or paint of the same color as the paper you're pasting. You can also paste another layer of paper, for example a one color paper napkin, (the cheaper way) underneath before you start.
