Honeycomb Angel

Description

This craft project uses an angel silhouette cut out of gold paper and honeycomb paper. When the card is opened the honeycomb paper makes a 3D body for the angel.

Materials used

• White greetings card 100mm x 100mm
• Yellow honeycomb paper
• Sticker No. 61 Merry Christmas
• Sticker No. 24 Stars
• Gold paper

Method

The angel silhouette used on this card is cut out of gold paper on our Accu-Cut machine. This handy machine uses a die to cut the shapes. Alternatively draw your own angel design and cut it out of gold paper with scissors or a craft knife.

The front of the card

The angel inside the card has a body made from honeycomb paper.

The template shown below is half of the angel’s body. Lay your template on the honeycomb paper with the straight edge against a straight edge of the honeycomb paper. Draw round the template. Cut out the shape with scissors or a craft knife. The honeycomb paper opens like a Christmas decoration making the full body shape.

Glue the angels’ wings and head inside the card across the center fold. We have used two layers to create a decoupage effect with the top layer having the outside edges of the wings loose.

Keeping the angel body closed glue one side to the card with the straight edge of the honeycomb paper into the crease of the card. Put glue on the other side of the angel and close the card over it. Allow the glue to set, then open the card.

Add stars and greeting with self-adhesive stickers.
